“The accelerator pedal on my 2002 olds Alero is sticking. The first time this happened I was going down a mountain I live on and had to brake the entire time; I have never had to do that before. The second time it happened I was ended up going 40 on a flat road and my foot never hit the gas pedal. This has happened on several occasions since then and I'm not sure how to fix it. Thank you.”

NHTSA complaint #10205923, filed 2007-10, 97,500 miles

“The accelerator (throttle) got stuck while my daughter was driving approx. 45 miles per hour and caused the car to run fast causing her not to be able to stop at a intersection sending the vehicle over a ditch and hurting her and the passenger. We have police report and pictures, no other car was involved.”

NHTSA complaint #10058818, filed 2004-02

“When I put my car into drive and let off the brake the car accelerate by itself. I do not have my foot on the gas and the car will continue to speed up until I hit the brake. While braking the car seems like it is still trying to accelerate. You have to push the brake all the way to the floor and hold it to try and maintain a full stop.if I put the car in neutral the rpms shoot way up. If I brake and stop the car and quickly throw it into park and shut it off and restart the car it usually solves the problem but it is definitely not a fix. …”

NHTSA complaint #10450831, filed 2012-03

“When applying accelerator at 50-55 MPH vehicle will not accelerate, engine will not revv. Vehicle has been taken to dealer 4 times, cannot find a cause.”

NHTSA complaint #8015496, filed 2002-08
