“Documents from safetybeltsafe USA state all vehicles manufactured since 1989 are required to have shoulder belts in back seats. Our 1990 Plymouth Voyager has only lap belts. I contacted the dealer (rappahannock) where the vehicle was originally purchased and was told it would cost more than the value of the van to install shoulder belts. I contacted another local dealer who stated it will be expensive and will require me to go in for an estimate. If the information from safetybeltsafe USA is true, shouldn't the cost of the installation fall on the manufacturer?”
NHTSA complaint #707024, filed 1999-05“Driver's side seat belt locking mechanism fails to lock properly. Can hear it click sometimes when locking. When pushing belt buckle into locking mechanism, the plastic piece splits & will not lock. Needs to squeeze pieces together just to lock it. Will be taking to dealer.”
NHTSA complaint #823539, filed 1998-05“Chysler denied the repair on broken seat belt. Repaired one side which was not broken . Did not repair broken bar part that attached seat belt to seat on the driver's side # 91v05300 . Please describe .”
