“Saturday, sept. 18, 2004 while riding in northern michigan my 2000 v92c Polaris Victory downshifted from 3rg gear to 2nd gear without any input from me. This problem with the early (1999-2000) bikes has been talked about on many websites on the internet and Polaris is well aware of it. Polaris has evedentally upgraded some owners motorcycles with parts at no charge. The cost abor for this upgrade has not been covered. Polaris should issue a voluntary recall on all models affected.”
NHTSA complaint #10093145, filed 2004-09, 9,500 miles“The contact owns a 2000 Polaris Victory v92 motorcycle. While driving and shifting into third gear the transmission shifted into second gear automatically which caused the motorcycle to slow down immediately. The motorcycle was taken to two different dealers who stated that they could not duplicate the failure with the transmission and there were no recalls or warranties. The manufacturer was notified and did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 3,000. The current mileage was 7,000.”
