Fuel tank mounting straps may allow minor amount of shifting by fuel tank in a rear end crash with fuel leakage in excess of amount allowed by standard.

Possible consequence

Vehicles would not meet requirements of fmvss 301; in thepresence of an ignition source, fuel leakage could result in a vehicular fire.

Remedy

Retrofit vehicles with fuel mounting straps of original design.
