What NHTSA recorded

The rear engine compartment cover near the cruise control servo motor slips, causing the safety clip in the servo motor arm to bind due to insufficient clearance. If the cruise control cable binds, the engine does not return to idle when the cruise control function is disengaged, resulting in the vehicle speed not being reduced as expected.

Possible consequence

When the vehicle speed is not reduced when the cruisecontrol is disengaged, stopping distance increases which can result in a vehicleaccident.

Remedy

Install a bolt and washer on the rear engine compartment cover to prevent slipping and to insure the necessary clearance between the safety clip and the cover.

Affected model years

Pages for each model year show complaints, parts, mileage and other recalls.
