What NHTSA recorded

The steering gearbox mounting fasteners were not properly heat treated.

Possible consequence

The fastener washers can crack, ultimately resulting in gearbox mounting assembly failure and loss of steering control.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the suspect washers with new, improved washers.
