2025: “I have owned cars for more than three decades and never had a windshield crack. In the first three months of owning a Rivian R1 S I had two windshield cracks from a simple pebble on the highway. Multiple owners are describing the same issues, but Rivian refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem, but literally two cracks in three months and I have never had this happen.”
NHTSA complaint #11659167, filed 2025-052023: “Passenger seat does not detect my 5'4 110lb wife, thus preventing the airbags from activating. This is the first car we've encountered with this problem. Is Rivian accounting for the fact that the weight occupancy sensor account for the weight of the legs placed on the floor? Please let us know if there will be a recall or a software update to address this.”
NHTSA complaint #11560954, filed 2023-122026: “I have had siginificant issues with my new 2026 rivian R1S specifically based around two key areas: 1. inaccurate battery range reporting/capacity below 20% charge 2. inaccurate mapbox navigation. Those two issues combine to create a dangerous situation in extreme conditions for a vehicle specifically designed and marketed for off-road adventure (snow, rain, below freezing temperatures) and for large capacity (7 passengers). …”
