“2002 Saturn l100, 148000 miles, primary safety concern is headlights will shut off spontaneously while driving at night. Other issues include spontaneous/erratic actuation of wipers, dome light, and door locks, as well as flashing of high beams and drl lamps. Also erratic instrumentation anomalies, e.g. Security lamp illuminates and shuts off, change oil soon lamp flashes, all gages flick from zero to normal, etc.”

NHTSA complaint #10302878, filed 2010-01, 148,000 miles

“The interior light flickered intermittently while driving 70 MPH. Currently, there were no interior light while driving at night. Vehicle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions. During the first visit dealer informed consumer that was the normal characteristic of that vehicle. Presently, it is not covered under a recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10099604, filed 2004-11, 60,000 miles

“Headlights and dashboard lights flicker when break and clutch are applied. They also flicker when just normal driving. This is an intermittent problem. It does not appear to effect any other electrical components (radio, heat, windows etc.). It is quite annoying. I have had the car back to the dealer 2 times for this problem and it won't repeat for them. At the last visit they had the car several days and it wouldn't repeat. I have also noticed this on an oncoming Saturn.”

NHTSA complaint #758225, filed 2002-02

“While driving at any speed the headlights and dashboard lights dim 40-50% when the cooling fan kicks on. My drive to work in the morning is 16 miles and the lights flash sometimes 10- 15 times. This morning was around 30 times. I've had this problem with this car since I got it. I have taken it to Saturn 4 times but all they tell me is that's the way it is designed I wrote to the corporate office made such a complaint, they replaced my car with another at a cost to me of $675.00. Both the first car and the replacement car do the same thing. …”
