“My steering wheel air bag spontaneously deployed as I was slowly driving in the lot of a sheetz gas station after just getting off the interstate (estimate my speed at 5 MPH in the gas station lot) there was no inciting incident. I was wearing my seat belt so only injury was a burn and bruise to my left hand. The vehicle remained on and otherwise functional.”

NHTSA complaint #11361601, filed 2020-09, 122,000 miles

“My daughter was driving at 40 MPH on city street when a car drove out of a parking lot, across and in front of her, she had hardly any time to applied the brakes and hit the side of the other car, my car suffered extended damage and the airbag did not deployed. I am very concerned about the safety of the Subaru.”

NHTSA complaint #11279306, filed 2019-11, 56,500 miles

“My airbag srs popped up when on a road trip and said the passenger airbag was off so I freaked out as my boyfriend was driving and then driving back it just turned off and the airbag light said it was on. Very weird called my Subaru and charged me for them to go on and look and said it would be over $1000 to fix but they really didn't know where the issue was coming from and I would be out of a car for a week.”

NHTSA complaint #11343171, filed 2020-08, 91,000 miles

“I was driving down the highway with my wife in the passenger seat when the airbag warning light turned on and the passenger airbag turned off. In the event of a crash my wife's life would have been in great danger.”

NHTSA complaint #11281750, filed 2019-11, 140,000 miles

“I was turning left on an arrow and a car ran the red light resulting in a head on collision with me, I was driving about 3mph and he was driving 45mph. His car was totalled, airbags deployed and on fire. I had front end damage and my airbags did not deploy nor did the seat belt lock up. As a result I hit the steering wheel with my knee and my ankle got lacerated and blunt trauma from the brake/accelartation pedal.”
