“The speedometer and the entire dashboard goes haywire when driving. It’s impossible to know what speed I’m going, no inspection yet. The cruise control light is on and won’t go off. I’m not sure if it’s on or not which is unfastened and could cause other issues. The check engine light goes on and off as well as the brake and ABS lights. There is no telling what could be wrong with those lights. It gets hard to brake when the brake light and the ABS light is on. …”
NHTSA complaint #11759503, filed 2026-08“The contact owns a 2010 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, a loud explosion was heard from the rear passenger's side of the vehicle. The vehicle then suddenly accelerated to 100 MPH, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a utility pole. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact suffered injuries to the chest area during the crash. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 20,000.”
