“After exiting the freeway and completing a curve to the right I was on a straight section of the off ramp going approx. 35 MPH. I applied the brakes and a moderate vibration was felt in the front end/brakes. The car spun out and hit a sign then a wall with the rear of the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10502138, filed 2013-03, 97,000 miles“The brake pedal is so close to the gas pedal that my wife and I have had our right shoes while on the gas pedal get stuck under the brake pedal. My shoe sole has repeatedly got caught under the right edge of the brake pedal and it is scary trying to get the shoe loose to brake the car. I sent an email to vw of america and they state they have never heard this before. I have a friend at church who just bought an identical Beetle to ours and he said he has also had the same issues.”

While driving into a parking space, the brake pedal was depressed, traveled to the floorboard, and failed to engage. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to coast to a stop in the parking space. The contacted called an unknown local dealer in orange, ca to schedule an appointment and to inquire of why no warning indicators illuminated. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be inspected for further failure information. …”
NHTSA complaint #11063280, filed 2018-01, 23,000 miles“Had the Takata Air Bag Recall completed at VW dealership in CC, Tx. Shortly after the Air Bag kept giving Errors and then it would include Low Air Pressure, ABS and Anti Skid Warnings.. Contacted the dealership, had the system check with no issues.. Had the system checked locally at repair shop with no issues.. went to leave and Air Bag Warning stated Error,, they rechecked and found no Issues.. Computer showed no Errors.. I was informed that apparently the only issue is Possibly the Air Bag needs to be replaced again but the dealership refuses to without a Recall Requests.”
