The feel of the brake pedal was as if there was a leak in the hydraulic braking system. An inspection by a mechanic indicated that the front calipers had locked up overheating the brakes. The front calipers, hoses, pads , and rotors were replaced. The motorhome, a 2000 damon challenger had 7500 miles on it at the time of the brake failure.”

“The contact owns a 2000 Workhorse P320032. While driving 35 MPH, the driver side tire began to skid. The contact inspected the vehicle and believed that the rear driver side brakes locked. As of september 19, 2007, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that his VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 00v139000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock). The failure mileage was 60,000 and current mileage was 64,000. Updated 01-14-08. The brake caliper was over extendeed and became jammed. Updated 12/12/07.”

NHTSA complaint #10203416, filed 2007-09, 60,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2000 Workhorse p31 chassis (na). The contact stated that the brake pedal sporadically softens due to the brake fluid boiling. In addition, the calipers become stuck in the applied position. As a result, abnormal heat generation occurs at the wheel end and causes the brakes to drag. The stopping distance also increases. The manufacturer stated that his VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 09v110000 (service brakes, hydraulic); therefore, they would not assume responsibility for the repairs. The failures still persist. …”
