“Upon starting the vehicle, there was a noise which also occurred while driving. The automatic transmission had to be replaced because it failed. Also, the rack and pinion had to be replaced at 12,000. The vehicle is still having problems with the rack and pinion.”

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, both front wheels seized and the steering wheel required force in order to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the transmission seized. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 04v176000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,875.”
