“The last month or so, I have had issues with the rear end fishtailing for a few seconds that would correct itself. Today after I pulled out of work, the car fishtailed when I was entering the highway. All the warning lights started flashing-paws, brake assist, power steering, hill, lane departure, etc. The power to engine was cut, steering wheel alignment off. Very scary on a 65 MPH highway. I got to my garage and they checked it out. The error codes showed rear wheel steering but nothing further. They had no idea what caused and how to fix. The code did not help. …”
NHTSA complaint #11338028, filed 2020-07, 111,000 miles“Vehicle will not shift into 3rd gear at random times - this can be when under moderate load to light load. This will limit the car to a speed to approx. 50mph, the transmission will not shift until the vehicle has slowed down 10+MPH and sometimes will require you to come to a dead stop to function correctly. This has caused a handful of safety risk as you cannot force the vehicle to come to a complete stop in some instances - like merging on a highway or a highway without a shoulder. …”
NHTSA complaint #10551628, filed 2013-11, 1,500 miles“2014 Acura RLX Advance suffered an Engine Failure from internal bearing defect. The vehicle was meticulously maintained by Acura dealerships, and had extensive service records. While driving, the engine produced a knocking sound, then abruptly shook and died. The Engine has seized, and exactly has the same problem with Honda/Acura 3.5l V6s recalls. Diagnostics after Engine failure included inspecting Engine Turning over, Timing Belt (which was pristine) to rule out any other causes.”
NHTSA complaint #11732004, filed 2026-04“The contact owns a 2014 Acura RLX. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH and making a left turn, the steering wheel became firm. The contact stated that the vehicle started to fishtail, and the brakes, WU-TWC, ABS and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear toe control actuator had failed. The vehicle was not repaired due to the dealer informing the contact that issue was not safety related. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the issue was not a safety concern. …”
