“Transmission went out at 104,000 miles. This seems to be a common problem on Audi's. The car was a $55000 car! I ended up selling it for parts, as the cost of a new transmission was more than the market value. I will never buy Audi again.”
NHTSA complaint #10627673, filed 2014-08, 104,000 miles“There appears to be a possible design defect that I believe merits reporting and possible investigation. I have 2001 Audi A6. The replacement of the oil filter at a jiffy lube resulted in damage to the oil cooler which cause me to suffer a $800 plus repair bill at the dealer. The dealer technician advised jiffy lube that they are aware of the potentiality of problems in replacement of the oil filter and as result have one mechanic secure the cooler with channel locks while the other removes the oil filter. …”
NHTSA complaint #10066292, filed 2004-04, 28,000 miles“Car hesitates when pulling from a stop. Hesitation appears to be transmission related. Transmission is Audi/zf tiptronic automatic. Hesitation is unpredictable, and can last for several seconds. I have had a number of near misses as I pulled into traffic and have had to quickly shift to reverse and get out of the way of oncoming vehicles. Audi states that their transmission is working as designed. I believe this because my research indicates this to be a know behavior of the tiptronic transmission as used in Audi and some volkswagen vehicles. …”
NHTSA complaint #10114623, filed 2005-03, 40,000 miles“My 2006 Audi a-6 CVT jerks on start-up or will not engage for several seconds and then leaps fprward. Dealer says there is a problem but does not report what the problem could be.”
NHTSA complaint #10316064, filed 2010-03, 80,000 miles“There were problems getting the parts needed to fix the transmission. Audi used my car to train mechanics, rather than replacing the entire transmission and get my car back to me in a timely manner. The wrong parts were ordered, when the right parts were ordered they were not machined to proper tollerances. The car was delivered missing crucial parts in the transmission!”
