“Consumer's vehicle had two continental contitouring contact tires made from the same manufacturer. The two tires, which were located on the right side of the vehicle, blew out. The right rear tire experienced tread separation around 17000 miles .”

NHTSA complaint #10046256, filed 2003-11, 17,000 miles

“I purchased four p205/60r15bw ameag h (goodyear)on 8/2/06, these tires have a 60,000 mile tread wear. On 8/15/06 my car was sent to a certified Bmw mechanic due to excessive wheel noise. The mechanic determined the problem of orgin to be all tires very noisey & l/f choppy tire after 37 k miles. He also stated the l/f tire was almost seperated.”

NHTSA complaint #10165995, filed 2006-08

“All 5 original tires had sidewall splitting/herniation (including the spare), other instances were reported to me by peake Bmw (I.e. 15 to 20 other sets of tires were replaced for a discount as under warranty). I am concerned by these numbers and the fact that they will not pay 100% to replace the tires. I am also concerned as to how they report this data and whether they are collecting the data in a manner sufficient to determine whether a recall is warranted. (DOT number: 205 tiresize: 205/55r16c)”

NHTSA complaint #735700, filed 2000-11

“Tire tread is seperating from tire. There are cracks all the way around the tire. Mfg will replace tire(prorated) with the same tire. However I don't feel confortable with the same tire since it only has 13000 miles on the ones that are on the car. I have an in-law that has the same car and his tires are doing the same thing. I have talked with both Bmw of na and general tire and asked if it takes a fatality to get something done. Bmw is not acknoledging a problem and general tire is not willing to work with the consumer. ( DOT number: tire size: p20555r16 )”

NHTSA complaint #731014, filed 2000-09

“While driving vehicle lost control. Upon stopping vehicle, noticed tread had started to separate. Michelin tires, model xse205/55r/16. Please provide any further information.”

NHTSA complaint #8002509, filed 2002-01
