Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When an adult is seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, the air bag service indicator, no seatbelt indicator, and passenger airbag is disabled indicator are all illuminated. In my vehicle's current state, if I were to get in an accident with a passenger present, the passenger airbag would not deploy, significantly reducing the effectiveness of the vehicles airbag safety system. A faulty occupant sensor mat is suspected. This issue matches the Bmw recall listed as: NHTSA campaign id number: 08v384000. …”

NHTSA complaint #10508440, filed 2013-04, 110,000 miles

“Airbag light went on and idrive said there was a malfunction with the passenger side safety restraint system. Bmw is saying that my vehicle is not in scope of the recall, though it should be as it is the same error as related to the existing recall below: recall id # 57362 - air bags:frontal recall date aug 05, 2008 recall date: aug 05, 2008 model affected: 2006 Bmw 3-series I am thinking it is because I have the touring 3-series, but they share the same sport seats as the other 3-series. Please add my VIN to the recall list.”

NHTSA complaint #10554645, filed 2013-12, 125,000 miles

“My airbag indicator came on in early march so I made an appointment with the dealer. After being diagnosed as a passenger airbag issue requiring a new sensor pad under the passenger seat (at significant cost) I searched and found that there is an existing recall around this exact issue that my car apparently did not qualify for due to the manufacture date being 2/05-11/05 and my car being built in 1/06. After speaking to Bmw north america I was informed there is an extended warranty that should cover my model with manufacturer dates of 12/05 - 9/06. …”

NHTSA complaint #10578560, filed 2014-04, 112,000 miles

NHTSA complaint #11395032, filed 2021-02, 120,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2006 Bmw 325XIT. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning light illuminated as soon as the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the passenger side mat sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer also advised that the vehicle did not qualify for repairs under NHTSA campaign id number:08v384000 (air bags:frontal). The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 91,000. Updated 02/22/12”
