“Long crank, stuttering, engine dying at idle (or in traffic), check engine light/limp mode. Bmw dealers don't know exactly how to fix it once and for all. They just keep replacing the high pressure fuel pump.”
NHTSA complaint #10362358, filed 2010-10, 30,000 miles“I have a 2008 Bmw 335XI. It has a serious transmission problem. When I am at the red light with my foot on the brake it feels like someone hit me from behind! So hard I look in my rear view mirror to see the car that hit me and get out to get their insurance info. Bmw will not fix it saying that the tech cant reproduce the problem! If my kids or your or some driver with not alot of experience would have this happen to them I assure you they could panic and hit the gas and end up in the intersection and get killed!!! Something has to be done before someone dies!!!!”
NHTSA complaint #10293442, filed 2009-11“The contact owns a 2008 Bmw 335XI. The contact was driving approximately 35 MPH; proceeding to a traffic signal. The transmission exhibited a jerking motion. The vehicle continued in operation. In addition, the fuel pump failed on several occasions. The turbo charger and banos system failed to operate properly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle was repaired under the service warranty. The driver observed after the vehicle service repair; smoke was coming from the tail pipe and oil was leaking. The failure mileage was 50. The current mileage was 34,000. …”
