Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The exhaust pipes on my BMW X6 caused a severe burn to lower leg after I inadvertently touched the pipe when removing groceries from the rear hatch. The tip of the exhaust pipes extends out from the rear bumper approximately 1 inch. The exhaust pipes are located on both the right and left rear side of the vehicle. It appears as if the exhaust pipes are under the bumper when you’re standing over the pipes. No warning lights were visible on the dashboard indicating the exhaust pipes were hot. At this time it’s unknown if this vehicle has been inspected by BMW Inc. for exhaust burns.”
