“On august 27, 2019, I purchased a 2020 Bmw X7. Since purchasing the vehicle, it's been returned for repairs at two authorized dealers at least two times and spends two weeks of my 2 months ownership in the service. According to the authorized dealer, the defects affecting the vehicle and creating unpleasant, whistling noise is due to the design of the vehicle. It is too much money for a vehicle that gives me headaches.”

NHTSA complaint #11271054, filed 2019-10, 1,000 miles

“I was called by a Bmw representative and told a safety recall was in affect and I was not to drive my brand new Bmw X7 not even to the dealership. They would arrange to come get it via a wrecker and would be keeping it approximately a month. No one will disclose to me the issue or the fix. They are being very closed to all my questions. Must be serious and lawyers must be already involved. Best I can tell via the NHTSA website, no notification has been made to the NHTSA as required by law.”

NHTSA complaint #11374124, filed 2020-11, 2,000 miles

“While driving the sunshade for the moonroof opens by itself. I try to close it but it takes about a minute before the button to work and then it does it again. Around 3 times in a row. I did not take it to dealer yet since it is out of warranty. It is very distracting while driving and this happens”

NHTSA complaint #11585026, filed 2024-04

“On August 1st 2024, NHTSA initiated campaign number 24V576000, BMW Starter Motor May Fail and Overheat . On 10/3 I went into BMW of Bloomfield to get an oil change & address the recall. On 11/23, my car would not start in the middle of traffic. Then on 11/25 I brought in my 2020 X7 to ascertain why the car stopped working and have it fixed. I was told by BMW that the same starter motor stopped working. When I received a call stating that the car was fixed, I informed them that this should be covered by BMW as it was a direct result of the recall that should have been addressed back in October. …”

NHTSA complaint #11629555, filed 2024-12

“Approximately 67,000 miles, my 2020 BMW X7 XDrive 40i began falsely indicating that the driver's door was open even though the door was securely closed. While the vehicle was in drive and moving, the false door open signal caused the vehicle to automatically shift into park and abruptly react. This caused a serious risk of an unexpected stop and loss of vehicle control. BMW Fairfax inspected the vehicle and verified that it indicated the driver's door was open and shifted or attempted to shift into park while driving and moving. …”
