“I have a warning on my dash, Service Brake Assist that comes on and off, but will not stay on. The dealer says they can't identify the problem unless it stays on and then bring it in. I did some research and find a class action complaint suit in 4 different states, of several GM cars manufactured between 2017 - 2020. Mine is a 2019 Buick Envision. The class action suit identifies the Brake Vacuum Pump defect. The defect will be known, when you step on the brake, the pump fails by exploding, and you have little or no brake whatsoever. …”
NHTSA complaint #11742967, filed 2026-06“The contact owns a 2019 Buick Envision. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle abruptly stopped without driver input. The brake assist warning light was illuminated. The message “Brake Assist Failure - Drive with Caution” was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.”
