“The contact owns a 2023 Buick Envision. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine seized. No warning lights were illuminated. After drifting to the side roadway, the contact discovered that the check engine warning light was illuminated, and the transmission had erroneously shifted into neutral. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel pump module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. …”

NHTSA complaint #11538424, filed 2023-08, 3,130 miles

“Parked a running vehicle, 2023 Buick Envision with 52000 miles and when I went to start the car again, it would not run; cranked OK but would not start, just stumbled for a few seconds and then nothing. Tried several times thereafter to start to no avail. Called for a tow and learned that due to a not running vehicle that has electronic transmission, could not put it in neutral to allow a simple tow; tow driver had to put dolly on both front wheels and rear to tow to GM dealer. Original decision by service rep was that the fault was due to a bad fuel pump module. …”
