“I had my car in cruise control, set at 70mph, and I was cresting a hill when my car lost power. I took it off cruise control but it would not run. It would surge then slow down. It seemed to have vapor locked. I had many close calls with other cars because I was in heavy traffic. I had to drive on the shoulder with my flashers on until I could get to a gas station. I shut the car off for 2 hours and it was ok. It has done this several times , I have had many repairs on it and it still is not fixed.”
NHTSA complaint #710509, filed 1999-08“While accelerating from standstill, something signaled cruise control to accelerate, never stopped accelerating, turned off ignition to stop vehicle, turned starter back on, engine was running wide open. Dealer could not reproduce problem, replaced servo.”
NHTSA complaint #809890, filed 1997-04“While driving, will idle very fast at 40-60 MPH, does not slow down, not using cruise control, locks on to high speed, have stop car & then restart to erase high idle, also replaced throttle position sensor/electronic control module.”
NHTSA complaint #986288, filed 1996-08“Anti-freeze is leaking from the throttle body control valve gasket onto the engine. The dealer is aware of the problem. The problem has not been corrected.”
NHTSA complaint #832998, filed 1999-01“While taking the vehicle out of park and putting it in drive the vehicle will accelerate without notice and the driver has to ride the brakes which will cause the brakes to burn out.”
