“My 1994 Buick Lesabre has a runaway accelerator problem, during a slow down or braking condition in gear at random times the engine accelerates the car forward, you must stand on the brakes with high force to bring the car under control and then kill the ignition to avoid an accident. This condition has occurred at cross walks with people crossing, and approaching stop lights, pulling into gas stations ect. Repair shops including Buick dealers said they could not duplicate the problem and had no idea what it was. I have eliminated the foot accelerator and the cruise control as the problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #10260836, filed 2009-03, 132,000 miles“While driving at any speed consumer noticed smoke coming from the front of vehicle, and determined that the problem was within the cooling system. When the vehicle is cold there is steam coming from the front of the vehicle, and there is an odor in vehicle. Also, throttle body seal may bnot be sufficiently compressed to prevent coolint from leaking.”
NHTSA complaint #833064, filed 1999-06“Vehicle was left running and then placed into park. Suddenly engine revved, gear jumped into reverse, and vehicle rolled down the driveway until it hit somthing and stopped.”
NHTSA complaint #862990, filed 2000-06“While traveling 60mph throttle stuck open, and would not slow down. After vehicle was placed in park rpms would not decrease until vehicle was turned off.”
