“Lost power while driving 65 MPH on highway which caused power steering and brakes to become hard to use. I took it to mechanic and found that the fuel pump relay had over heated causing the fuel pump to stop. I looked on recalls on the internet and saw where this has become a common problem with these cars and that general motors refuses to issue a recall. This is a very danervous condition and needs to be corrected.”

NHTSA complaint #10958322, filed 2017-03, 130,000 miles

“In the last month and a half my 2008 Buick Lucerne has burned up six fuel pump relays it keeps melting the relays and the fuse block I believe this to be a safety hazard as it could catch on fire this should definitely be recalled”

NHTSA complaint #11253069, filed 2019-09, 72,000 miles

“Fuel relay went out 2x, the second it almost caught the car on fire. The car filled with smoke. Its located under the rear seat of the car. Called dealership said there was a recall to bring it in, now the dealership is saying the warranty has expired, and wants $1700 to fix.if I'd been driving it would've burned the car, and worse how about if my grandbaby would've been buckled in that spot. The car only has around 80,000 miles on it. The car was in motion. The car is still at the dealership”

NHTSA complaint #11365308, filed 2020-10, 80,000 miles

NHTSA complaint #11032063, filed 2017-10, 102,729 miles

“Experienced a crank no start on my 2008 Buick Lucerne, did some research to find this make/model/year has a long history of issues with the rear electrical center due to the placement under the back seat. The fuel pump relay fuse was extremely burnt and noticed the fuse box was melted near the relay fuse. Brought my car to the local Buick dealership and they notified me a 10 year special coverage was available on this car but I was never notified of the issue. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle. …”
