“Vehicle stalled out on a highway (and at highway speed) and would not restart. Obviously this created a very dangerous condition for me and those around me as I tried to coast over to the shoulder (esp with loss of power steering and brakes). The problem came without any warning, and was determined to have been isolated to the ignition control module. Mileage on the car is only 43k”

NHTSA complaint #11142787, filed 2018-10, 43,120 miles

“The engine it's shutting off while driving, and after it gets cold it will restart, but after driving again another few miles it will shut off again. There are no lights on, so no mechanic to tell me what the problem is. I even called the dealer, and I was told that they can't diagnose the car because is no check engine light on.. I tried few different auto shops with no answer, so my car is parked in the driveway because I'm scared to drive it, I don't know how or when the engine will stop.. …”

NHTSA complaint #11354330, filed 2020-09, 56,000 miles

“On july 26, 2016, while driving on cleveland drive, lots of smoke started coming out from under the hood of the car then all of a sudden fire started to shoot out as well. There were no issues previously with the car as it was in perfect condition inside and out. I contacted Buick to see if the car was ever recalled but it was not, however, it probably should have been. Now I am without a car because it was deemed a total loss. I attached pictures but did need to upload the fire dept report.”

NHTSA complaint #10904282, filed 2016-09, 44,000 miles

“When making a turn where there is a puddle of water, the engine dies, and I lose control of the power steering for serval seconds, it seems to mostly happen when making a right turn through water. I'm not talking about a lot of water. The dealer maintenance dept. The last time I spoke to them, and for the first time in 8 years, of complaining of this problem, the service manager said it is because the engine is mounted sideways, and when the water hits the fan belts it causes it to slip, which makes it seem like the engine has died. …”

NHTSA complaint #11150180, filed 2018-11, 5,000 miles

“This car's engine would stop for no reason and not restart at stop signs and while driving. The power steering and power brakes would go out when this would happen which was especially dangerous when driving. It was taken to the dealership for repairs on at least 4 occasions and never fixed. It is again listed on the dealership site for sale after I took a $3,000 loss trading it in for another vehicle. I was told by the manager that the car would not be sold again, but it is on the pre-auction lot of the dealership for sale at nearly the amount I paid for the vehicle in november 2016. …”
