“Purchased this car spring 2017 paid in full to prior owner. Asked prior owner when test drove car how come all the service lights up and including air bag warning light on dash collum are lit up? Owners response not sure but has been like that for as long as can remember we don't think you should worry? A week later notice the car wants to accelerate on its own? Just bolts on my mom and I ? Within that month both passenger right side doors front & back power windows will no longer work at all? …”
NHTSA complaint #11149585, filed 2018-11, 100,000 miles“My son was driving when the car started smoking and caught fire. It was close as when he got out the front dash started burning. The car was a total loss. I have video of it burning and listening to my son describe all his clothes and personal things going up in flames. I have been writing and writing about this with every recall notice I receive. And that has been a lot. I only paid $3000.00 for the car but feel cheated to have lost it all. And almost lost my son! My recall # is 090447. It would be nice to hear back from someone about this. …”
NHTSA complaint #10915646, filed 2016-10, 89,000 miles“As my daily drive to a shopping location i parked my car at a curb, i turned OFF engine, and i removed the key, i open and exit the car out the driver side door, as i walk a few feet away from my parked car, i then was alerted by people from a nearby business that smoke was coming from the bottom area on my car, i turned and saw dark smoke, and fire began slowly rising from below the bottom front center area of the car, UNKNOWN to me why the car was smoking, and now on fire, this was a fast burning fire, i did not know what to do as more people including a nearby off duty police officer…”
NHTSA complaint #11555350, filed 2023-11“The contact owns a 2000 Buick Regal. The contact stated that after he parked and shut off the vehicle, he walked to the bank. Bystanders then alerted the contact that the vehicle had caught fire. The contact stated that the fire had completely burned the engine. When the police and fire department arrived, the fire department extinguished the fire. Police and fire department reports were filed. NHTSA complaint #11555241, filed 2023-11, 187,000 miles“My major concern is when I went to replace my tires today goodyear ls eagles I was told the tie rods were worn so badly that they could not do it without replacing them to align the car properly. There had been a noise in the front of the car since the day one that I thought was normal tire noise, based on my years of driving (37 without incident) it seems worn tie rods at 31,000 miles is something to consider investigating. My driving is local 90% of the time, 7 miles each way to work, 5 days a week. Once a month a trip to boston. …”
