Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Vehicle stalled while stopped at intersection - occurred twice in 2 days. Subsequently vehicle experienced excessive cranking to start - twice. Orange Buick serviced the vehicle and repaired a wire harness that had been worn. 2 days later while driving the vehicle at 30 MPH the vehicle lost all power (engine and electrical), I had to turn on the flashers and pull on to the shoulder. Once the vehicle was stopped I put it in park and it restarted. However, the 'traction control off' light was on and after pressing the button it remained on.”

NHTSA complaint #10093084, filed 2004-09, 8,205 miles

“1) upon running the air conditioner on hot days, it would make loud moaning sound when ignition was shut off 2) compressor has gone out for the second time and air conditioner will no longer blow cold air. 3) 03/05 replaced valve core and 08/05 r&r or replaced case.”

NHTSA complaint #10183418, filed 2007-02, 23,685 miles

“Speedometer, RPM gauge, fuel gage, and temperature gauge give false readings. Speedometer is the most important and gets stuck on different MPH randomly. Currently it will not go above 20 MPH. Research online suggest that the instrument cluster has 6 motors and one or more have failed. I called GM before the bankruptcy and they noted this had happened on some of their other makes and they were aware of complaints concerning the Buick Rendezvous, but there were not enough complaints to warrant a recall. …”

NHTSA complaint #10291392, filed 2009-11

“Several-failures, braking noise, front/rear tire wear, unsecured roof and top tail lamp. Steering wheel was noisy along with a thump roar and grinding, there was poor air flow circulation on the rear passenger side, the rack roof was unsecured and side rails, poor wear on the tires front/rear, rear wheel rubbing/grinding during normal operation, brake noises, poor idle and shuts off the engine, lack of air flow for passengers in the rear of the vehicle, and the right front passenger window black rubber seam buckled.”
