Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“While traveling down the highway the steering column bolt dis-lodged causing the steering to be almost in-operable, this also resulted in the instrument lights and tail lights to go out and stop working. I have paid out of my own pocket twice to have this problem fixed , including having replaced the turn signal and cruise control assembly. I believe this is a defect in the automobile.”

NHTSA complaint #10090498, filed 2004-09, 150,000 miles

“High pressure power steering hose design allowed for chaffing due to location of line lying over two tabs on the fuel injector, resulting in fluid leak and loss of power steering.”

NHTSA complaint #541374, filed 1998-09
