“I turned my car on and had both the front and rear defrost. I smelled something funny, so I turned the car off to investigate. I didn't see anything so turned the car back on and pulled back into the driveway and turned it off. Within a minute or two, the entire back driver- side door was in flames. I had to use a fire extinguisher to get rid of the fire. …”

NHTSA complaint #11186685, filed 2019-03, 96,000 miles

“1.) my car reduced speed on the highway driving 55. When pulling over the car would not accelerate and turned off. After being off for 20 minutes on the side of the road the vehicle drove normally. After a week carmax service could not find the reason for this incident. 2.) the epb warning light flashed while driving on a city street and slows the vehicle down. I came to a stoplight and my car died. It was towed to carmax service and after a week they were not able to duplicate the problem and fix the issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11076612, filed 2018-03, 73,000 miles

“My 2013 Buick Verano has been acting weird for about a month now. I first noticed it because the engine light came on one day on my way to work and when I left work it was off. Maybe two days later when I started my car and pulled of it just turned off. So I started it again(starts up fine) and I put in to drive and once I pull off it turned off. It did about 4 times before the car would run normally. This happen twice in the first week, and then it was everyday since then. I did notice that it was struggling to get it out of first gear about the third week. …”

NHTSA complaint #11183487, filed 2019-03, 75,550 miles

“While at a stop sign/light (stationary) the vehicle will move forward on it's own. I will have my foot firmly on the brake and it moves. It does it at random. I have taken it to Buick and even contacted corporate about this and now am at a stand still. Buick stated that because there is no recall, no error codes, and they can't duplicate the issue they don't know how to fix this problem. I am stuck with a vehicle that has a safety issue. My major concern is that it may only be moving about a foot now but later will it just keep going causing me to be in an accident.”
