“I backed out of my driveway and proceeded down the highway and the passenger side airbag exploded on my wife's arm. I am afraid that it will happen on the drivers side while driving. What should I do for safety sake?”

NHTSA complaint #10650750, filed 2014-10, 189,000 miles

“Air bag warning light comes on. I find that my vehicle has a VIN in the middle of those for which Cadillac has issued a recall fix, but for some reason my vehicle is not eligible. I bought my car used, and it was covered by warranty... Why isn't it eligible for recall fixes to safety related items?”

NHTSA complaint #10159854, filed 2006-06, 100,000 miles

“While driving, the frontal air bags deployed for no apparent reason which caused damaged to the vehicle. The consumer also suffered injuries from the air bag deployment. The consumer stated the vehicle did not hit anything.”

NHTSA complaint #10029951, filed 2003-10, 47,593 miles

“The contact owns a 1997 Cadillac Deville. For the past two weeks, the air bag light illuminates on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized general motors dealer and they stated that there were no recalls. The dealer performed a diagnostic, which indicated that there was a defect in the side sensor control module. The dealer stated that nothing could be done at this time; however, they referred him to NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure and current mileages were 92,000. Updated 02-21-08”

NHTSA complaint #10216656, filed 2008-02, 92,000 miles

“Gm will be sending out an inspector to determine cause of brake failure.I do not know what brake component failed. Whether it was master cylinder, ABS, vacuum booster, etc. I only know there was failure. I was traveling at a speed of 15-20 MPH with plenty of space to stop in response to 2 separate accidents that happened just in front of me. I applied the brake and when I got no response I pressed the petal with extreme pressure and the pedal went to the floor. Later at the garage the pedal again went to the floor, but on another occasion it was able to stop. Air bags did not deploy. …”
