Example complaints

Fuel system: “The fuel line is leaking. It could start a fire and I have children. I found a recall on this already on another site but didn't know if it would still be valid to get it replaced. I just bought the vehicle from an individual and then 2 months after this happened. Consequence: (fuel leaks in the engine compartment can result in underhood fires if exposed to a source of ignition) summary: (the fuel feed and return lines to the engine fuel injection system were not fully assembled and locked. …”

NHTSA complaint #10470400, filed 2012-08, 118,000 miles

Engine cooling: “The car stalled and was towed to a repair shop. The next day it was brought into the shop. The mechanic turned the ignition switch to start, and the intake manifold exploded, sending pieces of the manifold throughout the shop. The explosion also damaged the power steering pump. It was later discovered that the cause of the explosion was fuel that had collected in the manifold due to a crack in the plastic fuel rail. Sometime during 1993 the manifold was re-designed to alleviate this problem, however, there were no recalls, leaving thousands(?) of cars with this potential problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #10054948, filed 2004-01, 116,528 miles

Brakes: “Lost vehicle braking because of brake line tubing corrosion. I narrowly avoided rear ending the vehicle in front of me by quickly changing lanes into the left turn lane. It appears as though the brake tubing was not galvanized as the pitting corrosion was severe... The car is only 10 years old. I hope others will not be exposed to this sudden loss of a major safety system on the vehicle... The brakes!”

NHTSA complaint #10039293, filed 2003-09, 86,000 miles

Electrical system: “Short in rear right tail lights; right turn signal doesn't flash when any lights (parking or headlights) are turned on. Noticed same problem with many other sevilles on the road. Dealer had no knowledge of any problems. Worried that this will cause rearending accidents or people pulling out in front of us when they can't see our turnsignal, or when they can't see the brakelight or turnsignal to let them know we are slowing down. Please help.”
