“I was out late in a desolate area-no houses-no stores. I smelled burning rubber so bad I thought the car was on fire. I had no alternative but to continue driving. I was terrified, I am a senior citizen-female alone. I refused to drive it anywhere once it was parked. My mechanic was kind enough to pick it up. The dealer would not. It was the intake manifold. The car only has 44,000 miles on it. It cost me $466.26. I was truly terrified.”

NHTSA complaint #10253199, filed 2008-12, 44,000 miles

“Chevrolet Blazer would rev up and after a year began to run a little hotter than it should for no reason. I had it checked many times. A few months ago I was told it was a bad sensor. Was this a defect from the very beginning. It does not rev up now. Has anyone else had this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10150631, filed 2006-02, 94,000 miles

“Vehicle stalled while driving, but will restart when key was turned in the ignition. Vehicle was serviced 5 times in which a diagnostic test was performed, no failure code found. Then, dealership removed the automatic starter system, and the vehicle only stalled once. A year later, the service engine light came on while driving. Dealership replaced the computer chip, but the light came back on.”

NHTSA complaint #10115414, filed 2005-03, 300 miles

“- the contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact purchased the vehicle on 01/13/07. The clear coat was peeling off the vehicle on the driver's side door, and that the vehicle has been in an accident, and that the headlight on the drivers side was coming off, and the front bumper brace on the passengers side was missing. The contact stated that the dealer added a mechanical service contract without his knowledge. The dealer misrepresented the vehicle. That he was told the vehicle would be inspected, and he didn't know parts were missing. …”

NHTSA complaint #10180981, filed 2007-01, 72,654 miles

“The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. Everytime the contact opens the door of the vehicle, the interior lights consistently flicker on and off, especially in cold weather. As a consequence, the battery and alternator continue to fail and need replacing. The dealer stated that the failures were a normal characteristic of the vehicle and no remedy was available. Secondly, he noticed that the fuel gauges were inoperative. When the fuel gauge dial indicates that the fuel level is at half a tank, the fuel warning light illuminates. …”
