“When hauling cattle on the freeway, a sudden downpour hit, we could not see and the wipers did not work. There was quite a lot of traffic and we were very lucky to be able to pull over safely and not cause any accidents. The wipers had quit before and our mechanic said to tap the motor to loosen any dirt, that helped but was not a cure. We replaced the motor the end of april, 1999.”

NHTSA complaint #715485, filed 1999-12

“Windshield wipers quit working in the middle of operation. After a period of time the wipers begin to work again. The problem was reported to the dealership. The wipers could not be replaced free of charge because truck was not included in recall. The circuit board in the wiper motor has been replaced by owner.”

NHTSA complaint #834618, filed 1999-02

“Intermittently the windshield wipers become inoperable, obstructing the view of the driver. A recall has been issued on the vehicle's make/model. However, this vehicle was not included due to VIN. Dealer has been notified. The consumer feels the wipers should be on recall since it was a continuous problem.”

NHTSA complaint #854482, filed 1999-12

“Due to a cracked circuit board windshield wipers malfunctioned. This could affect visibility and result in a crash. There is a recall, but this vehicle was not included in the recall although it has the same problem. Please provide further information.”

NHTSA complaint #837602, filed 1999-05

“Intermittently while the windshield wipers are in use they would stop working which causes visibility problems that may result in an accident. After 3 to 4 minutes it will resume working. Cause unknown. Please provide further information.”

NHTSA complaint #830792, filed 1998-11
