Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Windshield wipers intermittently stopped operating while driving in the rain. This created a very dangerous situation and nearly caused several accidents. After several trips to the dealer and many complaints, the wiper motor was replaced, and the wipers failed again. The wiper stalk was replaced and repaired and the wipers failed again. The motor was again replaced two more times. They currently are working, but I expect them to fail again soon.”

NHTSA complaint #10122102, filed 2005-05, 30,000 miles

“Battery volt guage drops below 8 volts, dash and headlights dim, windows roll up and down very slowly. After 30 seconds power returns. This takes place when no external devices are activated. Dealer said all camero's have this problem. Been in shop 2-3 times - they verify but can not repair. Dealer said is not a safety or drivability issue. I am not so sure..”

NHTSA complaint #718839, filed 2000-02

“Brakes have been replaced 3 times within the 11 months of owning the car, brakes were squealing and shaking when stopping. Mechanic said brakes were warped. Each time rotors and brakes had to be replaced. Electrical system malfunctons causeing lights to dim. Defroster component failed. T-tops leaks continue after fixing it several times.”

NHTSA complaint #870476, filed 2000-09

“With the electrical system of this car the headlights will dim a considerable amount, the battery gauge drops from normal into the red (left side), the windows will run slow, the heat/air will also run slow. The vehicle was brought back to the dealer four (4) times, once to have the alternator replaced, the other three (3) times for testing. The problem still occurs, and they can not find a problem. This was also reported and documented to Chevrolet, but according to Chevrolet, the problem is normal.”
