“While driving about 60 MPH vehicle stalled, forcing consumer to drive off the road. Then, waiting for a few minutes, and vehicle started. Sometimes it will not start, then next day it will start like always. The cause for the vehicle stalling was determind to be computer failure.”
NHTSA complaint #876997, filed 2000-12“While going up a hill in traffic, the engine suddenly died. There was no warning. Consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer, they replaced battery/alternator and the timing belt. The light had come on for coolant, but the thermometer never gave warning, the mechanic bled the lines to the coolant and the light still remained on. Consumer felt that something was electrically wrong with the vehicle and wanted chevy to offer a buy back in which they refused.”
NHTSA complaint #8016733, filed 2002-08“Car will shut down suddenly when driving, will not restart, happened on 3 different occasions. Have taken car to mechanics 5 times and they do not know what to do. They have replaced the whole computer, the EGR valve, and replaced a ground wire to try and remedy my cars problem. Also did not start up once, tried for 45 minutes to get to start and then it finally started like nothing was wrong. Also has day time running lights and when light knob is not turned on, lights will just come on by themselves and then shut off again by themselves usually about 4 or 5 times when you are driving along.”
