“There is documented history with the oil consumption problem these vehicles have had. I am just one more person filing this. I do believe there is a risk of injury if the vehicle fails while driving. I also believe, however, that the only way for the masses of individuals affected by the fundamental engine issue to have any recourse is to have a recall issued.”
NHTSA complaint #11415997, filed 2021-05, 62,000 miles“I bought my 2013 chevy Equinox in july of 2019, about a month after buying it my husband checked the oil and the oil wasnt even on the dipstick. After that we kept an eye on it and every week we have to put at least a quart of oil in the vehicle. We have brought it to our shop and have determined that there is excessive oil consumption at the 100,000 mile mark.”
NHTSA complaint #11385805, filed 2020-12, 150,000 miles“My eco-tec engine burns oil. I have had the engine worked on twice for the same repair resulting in over $3,000 paid out of pocket. I have my oil changed every 3000 miles or less. I also have to add 2-3 quarts of oil on a weekly basis. Additionally, now my vehicle is experiencing a fuel issue where I'm now burning fuel.”
NHTSA complaint #11365322, filed 2020-10, 100,000 miles“My car is burning oil in between oil changes. I am not aware of it until my car starts to rattle. A mechanic told me that my car has excessive oil consumption . I have to put 2-4 quarts of oil in my car between oil changes. This is noticeable during the acceleration period. The safety risk is this may destroy my engine costing me thousands of dollars to repair.”
NHTSA complaint #11182852, filed 2019-02, 1,000 miles“Rear main seal blew due to a faulty pvc valve, and warranty will not cover repairs. Say it is because it is a know factor with GM and they will not recall. I had just started my vehicle to drive to work when check engine light came on. It died right after the light came on and would not start back up.”
