“Windshield wipers only work when they want to. On going problem since I bought van. Chevy says no recall was issued and it's not their problem. I have replaced the motor and still have the same problem. I can not drive if it is raining due to wipers may work but they could stop working again at any time. Also wiper fluid does not work when wipers do not work. I can not tell you how many failures due to it happens everytime it rains/snows/sleets. Meaning they may work or may not but if they do work they always stop.”

“I have a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina Apv minivan. I have had windshield wiper problems for years but refused to pay $300-400 to have them repaired because I felt it to be a product defect. Now, GM has a massive recall on many models but mine is excluded even though I was told by a few service people over the years that it was a chronic problem in GM minivans. I want them to include my vehicle in the recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10018562, filed 2003-05

“Visibility: windshield wipers, fail to work when you need them to work, damp weather , rainy weather, they are getting worse failing to work when your driving in bad weather, working when they want too!!! This happened right after I purchased the lumina van, new,24 miles on it, took it back to the dealer, they said they couldnt fine anything wrong because they were working then ( the wipers ) 8 years later I still have the same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10005666, filed 2003-02

“Windshield wipers stop all the time in rain just like all the other people complaining and all the dealer says is that the van is not under the covered recall. Same exact problem other people get fixed we will have to pay for because we sure can't drive it like this. If I get hurt I will sue gmc.”

NHTSA complaint #735293, filed 2000-10

“Windshield wipers either don't turn on or, lately, stop altogether when driving. This is an intermitent problem, but unpredictable. I am particularly concerned since they now fail after they are on. Before, they just wouldn't turn on and I could wait until they would. This is a really dangerous situation.”
