“While driving on the freeway at 55 MPH, the rear back window/glass and it's molding exploded outwards into on coming traffic. This occurred because the window/glass wasn't properly sealed at the factory.”
NHTSA complaint #10096886, filed 2004-10, 27,000 miles“I have had problems with the car since I own the car. Dealer replaced gas tank once, but it was with a rusty tank, problems with safety belts going out of shape, as well as the brakes not working or crumbling. Need replacement often. See other issues. ( DOT number: tire size: 195r14 )”
NHTSA complaint #702966, filed 1999-02“Thwindshield wipers just stop working one day so I had the wiper motor replaced and after that they worked for like 2 sec and died again. I have a friend who has the same car and the same thing happend so I was wondering if there was a recall on it or maybe someone needs to know so they can make a recall because it's very dangerous. Then for the side mirror one day I was driving and it just broke off for no reason, and it seems that every three out of four luminas I see there side mirrors are broken off. …”
NHTSA complaint #743379, filed 2001-04“I feel dupped by the chevy corp. There are so many luminas in my area alone that have this peeling problem I have never seen anything like it. This is not an aging problem as chevy is trying to convince everyone, it does not have any thing to do with the age of the car because the paint that is remaining is new looking and very shiny. I have seen aging paint that cracks. This is a bubble & peeling problem, mostly in a verticle direction. It is a distinct look. In one week I saw 3 white luminas with the same problem. How dare chevy not take responsiblity for an inferior product. …”
NHTSA complaint #10070353, filed 2004-01“Corroded rear disc brakes, excessive wear on the front brakes. Tt rear struts leaked, lower ball joint replaced. Poor gas mileage, fuel pump replaced. Power window switch failed. Door handle cracked. Transmission shifts too late, dealer repalced. Serpentine belt replaced, engine replaced, knocking noise in engine during cold startup. Constant brake problems, front brake pads and rotors have been replaced, front calipers were locking up, front brakes failed, brakes squeak, rear brake sliders repaired.”
