“In 2000 my white 1996 4 door Chevrolet Lumina started losing paint in various places and has continued to do so until now there are large spots of metal showing. With otherwise having a perfect car, this makes for an unsightly problem. Other people have to us similar stories about this year, color and make of vehicle. Is there anythiing I can do?”
NHTSA complaint #10052860, filed 2004-01“Exterior paint , peeling , flaking , rusting . I realize this car is now 11 years old , but this problem started when the vehicle was only about 5 years old . The paint has peeled off in large patches in many areas of the car , revealing the dull gray primer .”
NHTSA complaint #10206178, filed 2007-10“This vehicle has experienced a engine check light on or flashing many times throughout the past couple of years. It has stalled on the highway & had to be towed in multiple times. Bulletins apply but the dealer said they had all been done, not according to the repair orders. It is an on going problem that they refuse to acknowledge despite the fact they have experienced the problem. Letter has been sent to the dealer president without resolution & now one sent to GM.”
NHTSA complaint #719644, filed 2000-03“The base is not safe. The seat belt will not secure the base to the seat properly due to the belt feeds on the base being too close to the edge instead of more towards the middle of the car seat. To keep the base and car seat in place, more downward force must be applied to it from a point closer to its center. A police officer installed the infant seat per the instructions provided by evenflo and made sure the base was tightened down. Installed correctly, we could still lift the end of the base nearest the front cab up to touch the back seat. …”
