“The paint on my 1995 chevy Lumina is peeling. It started with the paint bubbling and then it started peeling within 3 months time. My car which was painted white by the manufacturer has now lost 75% of the paint.”

NHTSA complaint #10058694, filed 2004-02, 97,000 miles

“The paint on my vehicle began to peel off after it bubbled. I noticed the bubbling and then one day while driving a paint chip blew up onto the windshield. I went to the dealer and was told I'm not the original owner they cannot help me. Gmc also would not acknowledge anything wrong with their paint job. I have tried different ways to get them to fix this paint problem. I am not the only white car driving in my area with the same defect. At this point in time my white car is mostly a grey primer. I'm not asking for anything but a repaint. …”

NHTSA complaint #10053055, filed 2004-01

“I have a 1995 black Lumina. The clear coat and the paint is peeling off. It has ran hot ever since I bought it. I have had the thermostat changed and radiator flushed.I have to keep the heat on low even in the summer to keep it from over heating! The brakes need adjusted or replaced on a continues basis. I bought the car used, off a car lot, it was three to four yrs old and right after I bought it was discovered it had a main seal oil leak that would cost near a grand to fix!! The transmission winds loudly and "jumps" even though the trans fluid is checking out fine. …”

NHTSA complaint #10070399, filed 2004-01

“My windshield wipers keep shorting out. Some times they work and sometimes they don't. The bracket to hold the front seat broke and had to be replaced. The handles on the passenger door broke and needed to be replaced and now the sliding door is doing the same. The brake light keeps coming on and the antilock brakes make a grinding noise when applied.”

NHTSA complaint #706259, filed 1999-05

“While driving at 25 MPH, the oil light came on, and the vehicle made a funny noise and entire vehicle just shut down, leaving no power at all in the vehicle. The dealer replaced the oil sensor light, and noticed there was water in the oil.”

NHTSA complaint #828290, filed 1998-09
