“The drivers seat frame broke on my 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx causing it to lean and tilt back to the right toward the center console. It has the 6-way power seat. The 58,795 is less than average for the age of the car. I feel that this is a safety issue since the seat belt attaches to the frame of the seat. I feel that GM should have this on a recall to fix the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10575633, filed 2014-03, 58,795 miles

“While making a left turn the right side of my driver power seat dropped and rocked in an unstable condition. I was unaware the problem is a common one and have attempted to have the weld repaired twice, however it would require for the seat to be totally removed and at great expense since the car is out of warranty.”

NHTSA complaint #10627171, filed 2014-08, 73,000 miles

“I was driving about 35 MPH on flat strait road when the drivers seat suddenly dropped down, back and toward the right. Upon inspection I see that the weld on the brace/frame of the seat has broken. The seat is now unstable and sloping to the right. I fear the other side may snap as well. I see several other complaints regarding the exact same issue. This needs to be recalled before somebody is seriously hurt.”

NHTSA complaint #10700813, filed 2015-03, 121,100 miles

“The drivers seat upon adjusting sagged to the left and the seat base moved unevenly causing the seat to rock. The seat was previously repaired for the same problem approximately 4 yrs ago. I believe that this is a definite safety issue I believe the seat would not hold up to even a small crash.”

NHTSA complaint #10555800, filed 2013-12, 138,500 miles

“My 2004 malibu - the frame to the drivers seat came unwelded so the seat tilts to the right. This caused strain on the motor that moves the seat back and forth so now that is out as well. I have seen many similar complaints online for this exact issue. I'm very surprised there has not been a recall. Chevy wants $500 just for parts!!!! Insane.”
