“My power steering goes out without warning while driving. The warning displays on the radio screen. My mechanic called a dealership and they told him the recall had a limited mileage warranty of 150,000 miles. My vehicle has approximately 157,000 miles. This seems dangerous to me. Why is there a mileage limit? My mechanic attempted to fix it but it continues to occur.”

NHTSA complaint #11073540, filed 2018-02, 157,000 miles

“There was a recall on power steering. I took to chevy dealer. They said they fixed it. Alittle better later it started doing it again so I called chevy dealer and they said recall time was up there was nothing they can do. Now my power steering is completely out. I believe they should fix it and make it right.”

NHTSA complaint #11182787, filed 2019-02, 200,000 miles

“Came home from work, parked my car. Everything was normal. Next day I went to start it and leave for work. When I turned on the car, the power steering alert appeared in the information center. Very hard to steer. Thought it just needed some power steering fluid but learned this car does not take any. Started doing some research and found out that many people have issues with this car and power steering.”

NHTSA complaint #11324595, filed 2020-05, 222,000 miles

“The steering goes out while driving, making it hard to steer. The problem started intermittently now it just happens all the time. I did not see my VIN number on the list. From the looks of it, it looks like a lot more people are having this issue. Also when I'm stopped the steering wheel moves on it's own.”

NHTSA complaint #11180403, filed 2019-02, 35 miles

“There is a recall no 14116 and 14116b involving the torque sensor on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu but not on my particular VIN. It causes a loss of power steering which I am having. I do not understand why my particular model is not covered in this safety issue and what can I do about it. I have had no accidents yet but have to pull off the road and restart my car.”

NHTSA complaint #10944162, filed 2017-01, 136,000 miles
