“This problem has been constant since I have first owned my truck. The problem is when I am at a stop (I.e. Intersection) the truck will continue to surge forward to the point that I have to shift into nuetral, I have taken it to 3 different Chevrolet service dept. And received 3 different answers with one telling me that chevy is aware of the problem but does not have a remedy yet. I feel this is a safety issue that needs to be resolved. I am looking for some direction on how to solve this problem.”
NHTSA complaint #721353, filed 2000-04“The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet SILVERADO 2500. The contact stated while stopped at a stop light the engine would rev up to 2400 rpms. The contact has to shift the vehicle into neutral to stop the vehicle from accelerating forward. The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer 20 times in the last six month regarding the racing rpms. The dealer has changed the main computer twice along with the throttle positioning switch, the idle air flow sensor and the manifold intake gasket. None of these repairs has remedied the issue. …”
