“I was driving on the highway at 60 miles per hourn, my car started shaking, my oil and engine light came on, if felt like little rock were hitting under my car and my car went out. I feared for my life. I was able to pull over on the median. When the tow truck came, the tow guy said my engine blew. I just had my oil changed by the dealer 12/26/2025.”
NHTSA complaint #11714563, filed 2026-01“Check engine light came on 5/22/25 sitting idle when I went on lunch at 1:00 pm. I left work and came home at 5:00 pm and made it home safely not sure what the failure is yet I will call the dealer in the morning. Car only has 28,000 miles on it and should not already be having engine issues. Also has dramatic drop in gas mileage.”
NHTSA complaint #11662662, filed 2025-05“I was driving on the highway going around a ramp when I went to press on the brakes to slow down the pedal just went to the floor and the car would not slow down, causing me to go off the road. My insurance company did an inspection and said the accident was caused by engine failure and won’t cover damage. GM did inspection said it wasn’t their fault but won’t release their inspection report”
NHTSA complaint #11725606, filed 2026-03“I was driving on a busy expressway. My Trax began to lose power then there was a loud explosive sound and a cloud of black smoke. The Trax continued to lose power as I navigated across several lanes of traffic to the shoulder. There was oil everywhere. I was stranded with my dog in 100° heat. The Trax has been towed to the dealer and I am waiting on the official diagnosis.”
NHTSA complaint #11600423, filed 2024-07“I was driving home I got a message on my dash about engine pressure and then heard a loud boom, pulled off on the shoulder called a tow and the guy used to be a mechanic, he stated there was a hole in my engine and that it looked like a rod broke off and shot through the engine, I did take it to a dealership to get a diagnostic and they called and said something happened internally not sure what at this point and time.”
