Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Daughter entered passenger side of van through large sliding door. Front passenger seat was fully forward. Fell on exposed seat adjustment rails. Required 13 stitches to close wound just below knee. Rails were manufactured with sharp 90 deg corners and no protection. Rails are exposed by approx 4 inches when front passenger seat is fully forward. Same problem exists on driver's side.”

NHTSA complaint #10192318, filed 2007-06, 114,500 miles

“Vehicle side sliding door does not stay shut while driving. The dealership had been contacted on three separate occasions. The service dealer said that it was okay. The consumer was not notified that the door was under recall. The dealer claimed they performed recall#01v26400. The A/C had an odor at times, the dealer cleaned debris from the A/C drain. The cushion was coming apart.”

NHTSA complaint #10034326, filed 2003-09, 37,158 miles

“Item 1, steering column; 55 reports of bolt giving way causing add'l bolt to shear off and steering column to separate. Investigated by insurance, this apparently was not involved in this crash. Item 2, air bags, neither front or side air bags deployed in this 2.25 time rollover. There was a passenger in the front seat. Vehicle came to rest on passenger side. Seems side airbags should have deployed.”

NHTSA complaint #723505, filed 2000-06

“While consumer was stopping was rear ended by another vehicle at 30 MPH. Upon impact, front seat collasped, and front airbags did not deploy. The injuries that driver sustained caused a miscarraige of pregnancy. Consumer felt if airbags would have deployed, njuries would not have been so severe.”

NHTSA complaint #861115, filed 2000-04

“Another vehicle struck driver on side of consumer's car, and seatbelt behind passenger didn't hold ccs or child in place, seat flew backwards, and child landed on hands and knees. Jack for changing tires also came out of compartment in back of truck.”
