“This is the second time the bosch ABS failed in my 1990 Chrysler New Yorker landau. The first time, in 1992, the entire ABS had to be replaced, under warranty. This time, the bosch ABS pump motor was replaced and still the ABS warning light comes on intermittently. There is a life-time warranty from Chrysler on the bendix-10 ABS on the 1990 New Yorker. There should be a life-time warranty on the bosch ABS as well. Clearly deficient and a danger to life & limb. Luckily, I was travelling at only 35mph/50kms on a side street in vancouver, b.c., when the ABS failed completely.”

NHTSA complaint #10071362, filed 2004-01, 81,460 miles

“While braking, the brake pedal became hard, causing extended stopping distance. Recall 96v099000 was issued. Dealership would not repair the vehicle because the VIN was not included. The consumers son was driving when the brakes went out on three occasions almost having an accident on two of the occasions. It was determined that the ABS pump and brake system was not performing as designed. This document is an add to.”

NHTSA complaint #10050194, filed 2004-02, 85,000 miles

“Problems with brake failure on 1990 Chrysler New Yorker. Consumer was traveling on a side street when the failure occurred. The consumer suggested a lifetime warranty be placed on the Chrysler bosch ABS in addition to the Chrysler bendix -10 ABS.”

NHTSA complaint #10032221, filed 2003-08, 81,460 miles

“Brakes went to the floor and would not stop the car without much difficulty. Garage said it was a defect in the ABS system specific to that year (1990) and Chrysler New Yorker. They said it would cost between $2000 - $3000 to repair. The car is not driveable in the current condition. Chrysler will not sell the parts to the garage where I have the car and wants to diagnose it (at my expense I presume) before they willl even sell the part and at this point, the car is not worth much more than the cost it would cost to repair. …”

NHTSA complaint #707102, filed 1999-06

“While driving after same component was repaired by the dealer for a recalled item, same exact ABS failure occured! Service advisor asked me was it fixed when you left? While driving car in 45 MPH zone of city 4 lane, attempted to stop for light and brake light and ABS light illuminated and brake pedal became hard as a rock! With both feet on pedal, was able to slow car enough and pull into gas station. Had car towed to dealer. After first repair I could not see any replaced parts and service ticket read complied with recall notice . No work was annotated. …”
