“The tipm (the computer that maintains the whole car) is bad and needs to be replaced in an almost 10 year old vehicle bought new in 2008 with only 25,000 miles on it. It is sending bad signals to the wipers so I cannot drive it in bad weather. Although thre is a powertrain for life warranty, Chrysler refuses to replace the tipm. I was driving in heavy morning traffic it was snowing and the wipers stuck in the middle of the car causing me to be unable to see posing a danger to myself and others. …”

NHTSA complaint #11074097, filed 2018-02, 24,999 miles

“The multi function switch on the steering column just stops working. When this happens you lose head lights, tail lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, and windshield spray. The switch has been replaced twice now and the same problem keeps occurring. It either fails totally or works intermittently. You cannot drive the car at night or when it's raining - it's a major safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10543063, filed 2013-09, 69,689 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. While driving approximately 35 MPH, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle failed to restart after multiple attempts. In addition, all of the windows would not roll up or down and the rear driver side door lock would not lock. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the cam shaft position sensor, lower arm bushings, sway bar link, and window motors needed to be replaced. The engine and windows were repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 32,212. …”

NHTSA complaint #10616996, filed 2014-07, 32,212 miles

“During a summer storm several years ago with changes in pressure my windshield cracked from the seam about 4 to 5 inches out from the passenger side. The vehicle was parked in a drive way. There is no damage as though it was hit. It was simply parked one night and the crack was visible the next day. Since then, it is almost 3/4 of the way to the driver side right at eye level. …”

NHTSA complaint #10498491, filed 2013-02

“The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact was traveling 70 MPH when the rear passenger side quarter glass window came out. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and found there was a recall on the 2005-2006 model year, but not on his model year, even though the vehicle was manufactured in 2006. The recall campaign number was 07v149000 and it was for visibility, because the rear quarter glass window can come loose from the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage and current mileages was 62000. Updated 12/03/10. Updated 1/25/11 updated 02/07/11”
