“A fixed rear window on a 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser is coming loose. This is a recall on an older model of Pt Cruiser. I asked a dodge dealer about if there was a recall for my year model and they said it was not extended to the 2002 year model.”

NHTSA complaint #10229955, filed 2008-06, 79,000 miles

“With no warning and no apparent cause, the rear driver side quarter window detached from the car while driving on the interstate. Since I was unaware of what exactly happened at the time (I just heard a noise and felt some wind) I did not stop and am unaware of what if any property damage may have occurred to other cars as a result. Closer examination shows that the glass separated from the bolts that held it to the car. It looks like there is a recall for this problem on later Pt Cruiser models (07v149000), but that does not apply to 2002 models.”

NHTSA complaint #10378163, filed 2011-01, 46,440 miles

“The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The contact stated that the rear quarter glass fasteners on both sides of the vehicle had started to separate from the vehicle. The contact stated that the windows were violently shaking while driving at various speeds. The contact was concerned that the windows might fall out while driving and cause injury to a pedestrian. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11595572, filed 2024-06, 70,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact stated that the driver side rearview mirror detached from the vehicle while driving approximately 30 MPH. The failure occurred without any previous warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or a mechanic for inspection or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a report was filed with them. The VIN was unavailable. The current and failure mileage was 120,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10470608, filed 2012-08, 120,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. While driving 55 MPH, the rear driver side quarter glass separated from the vehicle. The dealer has not inspected the vehicle. The manufacturer and dealer stated that the VIN is not included in recall # 07v149000 (visibility:glass, side/rear). The current and failure mileages were 50,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10194760, filed 2007-06, 50,000 miles
