“My car's engine stalls and shuts off while in the middle of acceleration or even while at idle. The dealership cannot find any issues as to why it would stop running and I am extremely afraid to drive the car for fear I will have an accident. When the engine stalls, the power steering stops working and it is hard to steer the car to a safe spot.”
NHTSA complaint #11035527, filed 2017-10, 93,000 miles“I was driving down the highway this has happened I believe atleast 3 times now, all of a sudden while driving not sure if a specific speed but I was going atleast 50 MPH each time, the steering wheel seems to lock up for a good second or two which is a long time when your going that speed. …”
NHTSA complaint #11341028, filed 2020-07, 150,000 miles“While on the freeway, my check engine light went on and right away my car stalled while in motion going about 70mph. Luckily I was able to get to the shoulder and turned off my car then turned it back on and was able to get safely home. When I went down the street to check to see if it worked, it stalled on me again.”
NHTSA complaint #11033914, filed 2017-10, 125,000 miles“After being stopped in traffic for a few minutes I released the brake to accelerate, the car began to sputter and stalled immediately afterwards. I then put the car in park, turned it off and it restarted with no problems. It has done this once a week for the last three weeks. The check engine light has not come on at any point. I ran a diagnostic with the obd2 and it produces no codes.”
NHTSA complaint #10667009, filed 2014-12, 74,105 miles“Car has problems picking up speed when pushing pedal it slowly picks up speed, when the car is in motion and I push on brakes or I am backing out of parking space car shuts off. Also sometimes while car is running I notice it won't go over a certain speed it jus won't allow me to do over 50 MPH and car starts to over heat but normally I pull over turn the car off and start it back up and it drives normal again , until the car is turned off again it mysteriously just happens again whenever it decides.”
